"Red-headed Barbet," Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The red-headed barbet is a species of bird in the family Capitonidae, the New World barbets. It is found in Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Males have a red head, an orange to yellow breast, and a white belly . A white collar separates the head from the olive green back. The amount of red on the throat and chest and the width of the orange-yellow breast band vary among the subspecies.
