"Pipevine Swallowtail," Field Guide to Butterflies of North America, Kaufman. In the southern U.S. the most familiar dark swallowtail. Black above with a single row of pale spots near wing margins. Hindwing above on male with lovely blue-green iridescence, more subdued on female. Hindwing below with a single row of bright orange spots on iridescent blue background.
